Over the past few months OT has attended a range of events around the UK, from industry events in the capital and an APPG in Parliament, across to Bristol for a panel discussion on access to eye care. Here is a snapshot of what we have been up to in the past 60 days.

Event
OT’s Lucy Miller travelled to Bristol for a Specsavers and Vision Care for Homeless People panel event exploring solutions and best practice to ensure accessibility of eye care for all. Read more.

Training for the team
Education
OT’s Ceri Smith-Jaynes and Laurence Derbyshire filmed the latest online practice team training modules with practitioners across optics, exploring topics including: effective triage, visual fields: how and why, and handling complaints. The new modules will be released on 27 June

Skill guides
OT’s Ceri Smith-Jaynes and Laurence Derbyshire have captured a new series of skills guides. Presented by AOP education lead, Dr Byki Huntjens, the video guides focus on history and symptoms, exploring the sight test and contact lenses. The new videos will be published in July, boosting OT’s 45-plus video guides already available

Event
OT’s Lucy Miller attended the latest APPG on eye health. Chaired by Labour MP, Marsha de Cordova, the meeting focused on the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan

CPD Video
Our latest interactive CPD Video, filmed at 100% Optical, features optometrist and clinical director for outpatients at Spamedica, Professor Christine Purslow, who explores how key clinical details in referrals can enhance treatment planning, as well as the importance of preparing patients for their clinic appointments, and what typically happens after a referral.
