Surf’s up: Scotlens donates £4000 to Surfers Against Sewage
Scotlens has pledged to contribute a portion of sales from Scotlens’ Nocturnal orthokeratology lenses to the environmental charity
11 June 2025
UK specialist contact lens manufacturer, Scotlens, has supported environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) with a £4000 donation.
Scotlens made a £2000 donation to the charity, which was fund-matched to reach a total of £4000.
The funds support Surfers Against Sewage’s mission to protect oceans, beaches, and wildlife through campaigns to reform how sewage is managed across UK waters.
The donation forms part of a pledge by Scotlens to contribute a portion of sales from its Nocturnal orthokeratology lenses to the charity. In 2024, the company made a £1000 donation to environmental causes.
Scott Brown, CEO of Scotlens, has a personal connection to the charity’s mission. Brown was a certified scuba and technical diving instructor before choosing to follow in his father’s footsteps to become an optometrist, though he remains a “wannabe surfer.”
He said: “Supporting Surfers Against Sewage is about more than just environmental responsibility. It’s about protecting the waters that shaped my life and ensuring they remain safe and beautiful for future generations.”
“Our Nocturnal lens reflects that same ethos – freeing people to live actively and enjoy outdoor life to their full potential,” he added.
Thanking Scotlens for the donation, the charity emphasised the impact of collective donations in influencing government policy and driving environmental change.
