BCLA seeks 50 fellows to mark 50 years

Submissions are open for the British Contact Lens Association’s (BCLA) fellowship programme, through which it is seeking to welcome 50 new fellows as it prepares to mark its 50^th anniversary next year.

The programme aims to recognise practitioners for “their commitment to advancing knowledge and excellence in contact lenses and anterior eye care,” the association stated.

Fellowship is one of the highest levels of professional recognition offered by the BCLA and new fellows will join a network of over 250 existing fellows from across the UK and around the world.

The BCLA said it is encouraging “ambitious clinicians, researchers and educators to apply,” with successful applicants formally admitted as fellows of the BCLA at the association’s 2027 Clinical Conference and Exhibition, in June next year.

Chief executive of the BCLA, Brad Parkes, said: “BCLA fellowship represents a commitment to professional excellence and lifelong learning, and we are proud of the outstanding community of fellows who have helped shape the development of contact lens practice and anterior eye care over many decades.”

Parkes said that as the association approaches its 50^th anniversary, it wants to “celebrate the expertise, innovation and dedication that exists throughout our profession.”

“Becoming a Fellow is a significant professional achievement and an opportunity to be part of a highly respected network of peers,” he added.

Applications close on 4 December.
