BCLA names Dr Manbir Nagra as chair
Dr Manbir Nagra will succeed Dave Webley as chair of the BCLA
24 July 2026
The British Contact Lens Association (BCLA) has appointed Dr Manbir Nagra as its new chair.
Announced following the association’s annual general meeting (AGM), Nagra will succeed outgoing chair, Dave Webley.
Nagra has more than 20 years of experience across clinical practice, academia, professional leadership and industry.
The UK-qualified optometrist said of her appointment: “The BCLA has played an important role throughout my professional journey. I look forward to serving as chair during our 50th anniversary year.”
“By working alongside my fellow trustees, our CEO, the BCLA team, and the wider BCLA community, I hope to continue building on the work of all those who came before us,” she added.

Brad Parkes, chief executive of the BCLA, said: “Manbir’s appointment as chair marks an exciting new chapter for the BCLA as we enter our 50th anniversary year. Her depth of experience, passion for education and commitment to advancing patient care make her ideally placed to lead the association as we look ahead to the future.”
Outgoing chair, Webley, was commended for his commitment, leadership and contribution to advancing the profession during his tenure.
Extending “sincere thanks” to Webley, Parkes said: “His contribution to the BCLA has been hugely valued, and we are grateful for the time and expertise he has given to the role.”
The AGM also saw Dr Keyur Patel, Sònia Travé-Huarte and Deven Lakhani elected to the BCLA Council.
Welcoming the new Council members, Parkes said: “Their enthusiasm and commitment to the profession will be invaluable as we continue to support our members and champion excellence in contact lens practice and transform the BCLA.”
