The first phase of the education programme for 100% Optical 2027 has been released.
The optical show will be held at Excel London from 27 February–1 March, with a programme of education delivered by the event’s official UK partner, the AOP.
The programme will offer professional learning opportunities suitable for all modes of practice, with clinical content and opportunities for practical skill development.
Dr Byki Huntjens, AOP education lead, said: “We are pleased to announce the programme for the 2027 show. It has been designed to equip attendees with the confidence to navigate change, adopt new clinical responsibilities and deliver exceptional patient care.”
“Informed by insight from across the profession, the learning offer supports clinical decision making and the continued development of the profession,” she added.
More than 100 continuing professional development (CPD) accredited sessions will run across multiple stages at the event, which takes place during the third year of the CPD cycle.
The first reveal of the programme includes a Main Stage lecture on artificial intelligence from Pearse Keane, professor of artificial medical intelligence at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and consultant ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Further topics in the programme include the use of corneal topography in orthokeratology fitting, ultra-widefield imaging, managing red eye and contact lens comfort.
Huntjens highlighted: “AOP members can also gain access to additional CPD points in the exclusive AOP Lounge, where expert speakers will lead sessions covering professional development, clinical practice and regulatory updates.”
Sessions on the catwalk will include insight on consumer trends and independent eyewear design.
The next phase of the education programme will be revealed in November.
Organisers will be exploring provision for those who will be observing Ramadan. Delegates can note if they will be observing Ramadan when registering.
