STEP relaunch
Johnson & Johnson relaunches the Success Through Education Programme (STEP) on 6 October with a refreshed, self-directed structure replacing linear learning with flexible progression.
Students can now take their own path across STEP through Bronze, Silver, and Gold tiers, unlocking clinical skills through varied, interactive formats. Students can self-select topics, gaining credits to progress to the next level, in a model that aims to enhance the accessibility of the programme.
Organisers suggest the STEP programme broadens peer exposure, connecting students across regions to foster “confidence, collaboration and new ways of thinking.”
The company shared: “The relaunch ensures the Johnson & Johnson STEP programme will continue to support optometry students from all the universities, from undergraduate to newly-qualified.”

Expanded parameters
Additionally, the company highlighted that Bausch + Lomb Ultra for Astigmatism features a –2.75D cylinder, and the multifocal lenses require only two Adds for a 9/10 patient fit success in two visits.
The range offers patients 16 hours of comfort and is approved for up to seven days of extended wear.

Digital redesign
Menicon has launched a newly redesigned website for the UK and Ireland.
The refresh offers simplified navigation, mobile-friendly design, and insight on eye care and lens innovation.
Menicon shared that the goal for the new site was to make it easier for practitioners and contact lens wearers to find what they need and learn about the company’s latest technologies.
The company suggested the website would be “your new destination for everything contact lenses, eye health, and vision care innovation.”

Fitting success
Ultravision reflected on the positive reception of its KeraSoft AV monthly disposable silicone hydrogel lens in the year following its launch.
The contact lens has been designed for keratoconus, irregular corneas, and post-surgical eyes, with Sujata Paul, clinical services manager at Ultravision, explaining: “KeraSoft AV lenses have achieved widespread success, with eye care professionals praising their ease of fitting, extensive prescription range, and excellent patient outcomes.”
The contact lens manufacturer also highlighted its variety of education for practitioners, which includes in-house training, continuing professional development (CPD) accredited laboratory tours, and specialist lens fitting sessions.
The company hosts CPD masterclasses at the ABDO Birmingham National Resource Centre, as well as monthly webinars and Teams-based training for individual practices, available on request. Practice and hospital visits for bespoke training are also available.
