Dry eye: investigative techniques
This OT skills guide will introduce viewers to a range of techniques that can be used in practice for investigating dry eye
OT has published a series of three skills guide videos focused on dry eye. These guides will explore the topics of history and symptoms, the dry eye assessment and investigative techniques, and dry eye therapeutic management.
Each of the video guides, which are between 10 and 22 minutes long, are presented by Dr Sònia Travé Huarte, a post-doctoral researcher at Aston University.
In this skills guide, Dry eye: investigative techniques, Dr Sònia Travé Huarte demonstrates her clinical dry eye work up. The viewers will be able to watch advanced imaging instruments in action, testing osmolarity and inflammatory markers, and slit lamp techniques such as meibomian gland imaging and expression.
Dry eye: investigative techniques
This dry eye skills guide video series has been adapted from a past CPD Video exam with optometrist Travé Huarte. Titled Dry eye disease: diagnosis, subclassification and management, the 2023 CPD Video exam demonstrates how to investigate and diagnose dry eye disease, from simple slit lamp techniques to more complex equipment, such as a meibographer and a tear osmolarity system. The now-closed CPD video can be watched in full in OT’s Education library.
