Husband-and-wife optometry duo, Ashish Chokshi and Tanvi Shah, and smartphone tech founder, Dr Stephanie Campbell, featured in OT’s February March The emerging technology and future practice edition cover feature photoshoots.

Chokshi and Shah were photographed at their Fulham independent practice, Diopter Eye Clinic.

Campbell – an optometrist and founder of the Bristol-based company, Okko Health –took part in a photoshoot at a Wandsworth studio after returning to London from the US where she was travelling for business.

Chokshi shared with OT that, as a clinician, he is accustomed to being behind equipment rather than in front a camera.

“Once we got started it felt natural. It was a good opportunity to step back from the day-to-day clinical flow and reflect on the work we do. There was also something energising about seeing the practice through a different lens – quite literally – and recognising how far we’ve come as a team,” he said.

He added that photographer, Louise Haywood-Schiefer, took a collaborative approach to capturing photos.

“She took time to understand the personality of the clinic, our journey and what we wanted to convey, which made the whole process feel authentic rather than staged,” Chokshi highlighted.

He shared that passersby were curious about the photoshoot in the “best possible way.”

“Some known patients popped in to see what was happening, and several others popped in afterwards to ask about the clinic. It actually turned into a lovely bit of community engagement,” Chokshi said.
