The Bausch + Lomb Ultra One Day for Astigmatism silicone hydrogel daily disposable contact lenses are now available in the UK and Ireland.
The contact lenses work with the tear film to help maintain ocular surface homeostasis throughout 16 hours of wear, the company said.
Bausch + Lomb Ultra One Day for Astigmatism lenses feature the company’s Advanced MoistureSeal Technology for moisture retention, modulus, breathability, and UV protection.
The lenses also feature ComfortFeel Technology which “enriches the tear film with comfort and eye-healthy ingredients released over the course of the day.”
A proprietary OpticAlign Design has been used to complement the eye’s natural blink pattern by incorporating a thin edge design to minimise lid interaction, thinnest beneath the upper lid to limit rotation, and a configuration that utilises the downward motion of each blink to enhance stabilisation.
Bausch + Lomb said the lens design is optimised across the power range for consistent spherical aberration control to help reduce halos and glare.
Yang Yang, president of global vision care at Bausch + Lomb, said: “Many people with astigmatism want to wear their contact lenses longer but they often experience blurry vision and discomfort.”
“Bausch + Lomb Ultra One Day for Astigmatism lenses are designed to directly address this challenge with a stable design based on the eye’s natural blink pattern. In addition to providing clear, stable vision, these lenses provide up to 16 hours of comfort while supporting ocular surface homeostasis,” she added.
The company shared that, in a recent study, 95% of Bausch + Lomb Ultra One Day for Astigmatism lenses settled within 10 degrees in 30 seconds, and 97% rotated less than three degrees with each blink, with a mean comfort score of nearly 90%.
The lens is available with a wide parameter coverage, Bausch + Lomb suggested, with 2450 stock keeping units and also including a –2.75 cylinder.
