Myopia Focus welcomes optometrist to advisory committee

Myopia Focus has welcomed locum optometrist and director of D&R Optometry Deven Lakhani as a member of its Myopia Focus Advisory Committee.

The former owner of Hammond Opticians in Enfield brings extensive clinical experience in children’s eye care, myopia management, and contact lenses, to his role on the committee.

Lakhani has a professional passion for orthokeratology, is a previous contributor to Myopia Focus, and received an award in 2024 for his work in children’s eye health and delivering myopia management solutions.

Describing joining the committee as a “privilege,” Lakhani said: “Myopia management is one of the most important developments in children’s eye care, but many parents still do not know what options are available or why early intervention matters.”

“I am especially passionate about ortho-K because, for the right child, it can be life-changing: clear vision during the day, freedom from daytime glasses or contact lenses, and an evidence-led approach to helping manage progression,” he said.

Lakhani added: “I look forward to supporting Myopia Focus in its mission to make accurate, accessible information available to more families.”
