Alcon reveals Precision7

Alcon has revealed a new one-week replacement contact lens, Precision7, which will be commercially available in the UK and Ireland beginning in March 2026.

The contact lens is described as offering “a breakthrough in comfort performance” with an easy to remember replacement schedule when daily disposables are not an option.

The new contact lens features the Activ-flo System which combines a water-loving moisturising agent embedded in the lens matrix with a proprietary replenishing agent that is continually released to moisturise the surface for seven days.

The manufacturer highlighted that nearly nine out of 10 eye care professionals believe daily disposable lenses are better overall for their patients, but that more than half of new patients are still being fitted in reusable lenses due to cost considerations.

Alcon found that most optometrists agree a one-week contact lens replacement schedule would be more intuitive for patients, compared to two weeks.

Jason Klomp, managing director vision care, UK and Ireland, said: “With Precision 7, patients can experience the world’s first contact lens with Activ-flo System that continuously moisturises the lens surface for seven days, offering 16 hours of outstanding comfort and precise vision with an intuitive replacement schedule.”

The new launch marks the latest addition to the Alcon water innovations portfolio of contact lenses.

Michelle Beach, founder and optometrist of Park Vision in Nottingham, said: “Research shows that 70% of surveyed contact lens wearers would be interested in trying a one-week replacement contact lens.”

Beach shared that 75% of Park Vision patients are using daily disposables, sharing: “But we still need to keep the remaining 25% happy. Would they choose a shorter replacement lens if it was available to them?”

“I am thrilled I am now able to offer an easy one-week replacement lens to my patients. Delivering comfort and great stable vision, it is a seamless fit for the modern patient lifestyle,” she said.
