I am currently finishing off the numerical requirements for my Stage 1 logbook.

While I work towards the remaining numbers, I have already started preparing for Stage 2. This has involved beginning revision early so I can build my knowledge gradually rather than trying to cover everything at the last minute.

Establishing a consistent study routine has made a real difference.

At the start of each week, I plan what I would like to achieve, which helps me stay organised and focused.

The hospital setting has provided exposure to a diverse range of encounters and cases, which have allowed me to develop skills that would be difficult to gain elsewhere.

Working alongside ophthalmologists, orthoptists and specialist optometrists has broadened my clinical knowledge and given me a valuable insight into multidisciplinary care. One memorable case involved a contact lens patient with corneal scarring following complex surgery for a traumatic corneal laceration.

I definitely want to continue working in the hospital eye service after qualification, and over time explore opportunities to specialise.

I particularly enjoy contact lenses and anterior eye pathology, so I would be keen to get involved with the corneal team, while still a part of the specialist contact lens service.
