Sun, sun, sun
Frames
Silhouette has released Sun Lite, an update on four classic styles, featuring subtitle titanium accents and rich earthy colours in a range that draws inspiration from the West Coast of the US.
The four frames include a chic butterfly style, ‘Hermosa,’ named after Hermosa Beach, as well as ‘Pinnacles,’ an 80s-inspired aviator inspired by Pinnacles National Park.
The rounded square frame, ‘Sequoia,’ draws its name from the world’s largest trees, in Sequoia National Park, while the vintage style panto, ‘Coronado,’ features a keyhole bridge and harks back to the heyday of Hotel del Coronado in San Diego.

VR for visual fields
Equipment
BIB Ophthalmic Instruments has been named exclusive UK distribution partner for Perivision’s VR eye testing platform with visual fields optimised by artificial intelligence (AI).
VisionOne is UKCA approved and supported by validated clinical studies, the company highlighted, with visual field tests including standard glaucoma tests 24-2.
Through the use of a sequentially optimised reconstruction strategy, an AI algorithm, Perivision suggests test times are reduced by up to 70% compared to the Swedish interactive thresholding algorithm.
An internal magnetic binocular lens corrective holder and built-in eye tracking provide convenience and accuracy. The headset does not need to be wired to a PC so can be used in any position.
The VisionOne joins BIB’s range of perimeters, with Tim Baker, CEO, describing the device as “especially convenient where space is of a premium.”

Navigating perimetry
Equipment
Grafton Optical has launched the Rexxam FieldNavigator, a head-mounted perimeter utilising eye-tracking technology to assess visual fields.
The company noted that by removing the need to press buttons, this approach reduces the possibility of false positives and negatives that can be associated with patient response-based systems.
For patients with minimal visual field impairment, the company suggested the device could significantly reduce testing time, while the lightweight design allows for portability, increasing its applications.
The FieldNavigator records all eye movements to allow for post-examination verification of results. Clinical studies have demonstrated that the FieldNavigator provides visual field assessment outcomes comparable to the gold standard Humphrey Field Analyser.
David Thickens, CEO at Grafton Optical, said: “We are delighted to introduce the Rexxam FieldNavigator to the UK market. This innovative device is set to revolutionise visual field testing by offering a far more objective and patient-friendly experience.”

Stable style
Frames
JF Rey has expanded its men’s collection Sledge Combi, with three new models, featuring a monobloc titanium front with a refined acetate piece.
The frames are equipped with the brand’s patented Combi Flex screwless hinge technology. The structure is made from titanium and carbon fibre for stability and comfort. Adjustable temple tips provide more options for personalisation.
The designs have a minimalist style and are available in shades including black, grey, blue, brown, and khaki.

Fine steel
Frames
Italia Independent introduced a series of eight styles in stainless steel, featuring acetate temple tips.
The ultra-light frames have a strong geometric look and vintage feel, playing with variations of metallic and semi-matte finishes.
The collection also uses a variety of fun colours for the frames and the lenses of its sunglasses, with bright colours contrasted with classic shades, and touches of contemporary hues such as sage, bright pink, or sky blue.
A camo texture has been re-introduced to the collection, in blues and greens, as well as browns and dark purples.
And don’t miss this...
Colour change
Marchon Eyewear’s Calvin Klein Jeans Eyewear has unveiled new Color Shift frames featuring UV-sensitive acetate that changes colour when exposed to direct sunlight. The new additions also introduce pattern-changing options that shift from transparent to striped or tortoiseshell.
The ‘CKJ24606S’ sunglasses have an oversized square front, while the customised metal core wire is visible through the transparent acetate sides. The Calvin Klein Jeans logo is engraved on the temples. The model is available in colours shifting from crystal to rose, brown to Havana, crystal to grey, crystal to green, brown to violet, and pink to khaki.
The ‘CKJ24607S’ have a modified rectangular front for a striking look, and acetate that changes colour and, in two options, patterns when exposed to UV rays. The frame is available in brown to Havana, crystal to striped blue, as well as grey to dark grey, honey to brown, green to dark green, and sky to midnight blue.
Supporting myopia management
EssilorLuxottica has revealed the latest selection of children’s eyewear from its autumn/winter (AW) 2024 collection, specifically chosen to support Essilor’s Stellest lenses.
The collection includes frames from Ray-Ban, Oakley, Vogue Eyewear, and Miraflex.
Richard Davies, commercial sales director for frames at EssilorLuxottica, said: “The frames from our AW 2024 collection are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also engineered to support myopia management.”
“Paired with Essilor Stellest lenses, they offer the perfect combination of style, durability, and myopia management – empowering children to manage their myopia effectively, while enjoying comfortable, fashionable eyewear,” he added.
Frames selected for the autumn winter 2024 collection for myopia management include the Ray-Ban 0RY1905 model, from the Fort-X collection. The frame, designed for children aged four to 10, features an injected material that has five times the impact resistance of traditional eyewear materials, the company suggested.
