Bird Eyewear has launched two frame collaborations to raise funds for endangered bird species.
The ‘Puffin’ frame, developed with the World Wide Fund for Nature, imitates the bird’s black, white, and orange appearance.
Developed with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the ‘Swift’ is inspired by the speed and silhouette of the bird.
The frames have been made with plant-based patented material and Bird’s Activ-Adjust core technology.

Contact lens care

Build your specs
Spectacles
Exeter Eyewear is making a splash in children’s eyewear with the SEEcreatures collection, distributed by Bondeye Optical.
Sold in fitting kits containing six fronts, six pairs of sides, and six combinations of trim colours, with size variations from 36 to 44 eyes, the brand called the new line a: “Build Your Specs essential dispensing kit for clinics.”
When a frame is ordered, it is custom-assembled by Exeter Eyewear and delivered in a card drawer case with a tip mounting headband. For younger wearers the sides can be replaced by a specially designed headband.

Matte models
Spectacles
Silhouette highlighted its Pure Wave collection of lightweight full frame models with all-matte effects. The frames are made of SPX+, a malleable, lightweight and durable material.
The lenses have grooved glazing allowing for an ultra-thin front design, while the planar trim zone transitions from the front to temple line in a minimalist style.
The arms and end tips are adjustable, and the new Pure Wave collection has new temple tips framed by a delicate titanium band.
‘Soft Sand’ is inspired by the colours of beaches and conch shells, with honey-marbled arms and rose gold side parts and end tips.
‘Crystal Sage’ presents the greens of sea foam with a marbled honey finish that is new to Silhouette’s temple colour palettes.

3D imaging
Equipment
Haag-Streit UK has launched the Imaging Module 910 3D in the UK. Through the addition of a second 4K camera, eye care practitioners can document slit lamp images in 3D.
Gemma Edwards, product manager at Haag-Streit UK, told OT: “The new 3D imaging technology offers a fantastic opportunity for clinical education across all areas of the eye care profession, including independent prescriber training.”
The 3D images enable patients the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of any pathology and their condition.
“For solo practitioners, the ability to capture these in-depth images and video, will allow the opportunity to gain insights from specialists who are not able to be present at the time of the examination,” she said.
And don’t miss this...
Italian design
Italian brand Ultra Limited presented its Spring Summer 2024 campaign, which puts glamour front and centre.
Each frame in the campaign has been paired with atelier scarves in a tribute to Italian craftsmanship.
The models ‘Spargi,’ ‘Lido’, ‘Pellestrina’, ‘Tropea’, and ‘Manfredonia’ feature in the campaign, paired with scarves that mirror the colourways and patterns of the frames.
Tommaso Poltrone, of Ultra Limited, commented: “We evolved the decorative scarves concept to empower our models to freely express themselves, show their personality and revel in the playful spirit of our inimitable frames.”

Statement curve
Marchon presented Ferragamo’s Pre-Fall 2024 eyewear collection of statement styles reimagining iconic emblems of the design house.
The frames include metal rivets inspired by the clasps of Ferragamo bags, integrated with seven-joint hinges and hot-stamped with the logo.
Colourways range from solid tones to gradients, with a sandblasted metal core visible through the sides of transparent shades.
The oval ‘SF2030S Ferragamo Curve’ presents an elongated silhouette with a curved front, raised edges and side shields. Glossy acetate has been treated with a manual milling finish, particularly noticeable on the upper part of the frame. The Ferragamo logo has been hot-stamped onto the sides.
The transparent colourways reveal the sandblasted metal wire core.
