NuVision appoints non-executive director to support its expansion
Joanne Underhill has joined the optics tissue-therapy company
21 May 2026
Optics tissue-therapy company NuVision Biotherapies has appointed Joanna Underhill as its new non-executive director.
The appointment follows Mark Treherne stepping down as non-executive director after 18 months. He had previously served as the company’s chair for five years.
In her new role, Underhill will provide a board-level voice, work closely with NuVision’s commercial teams to strengthen the company’s sales infrastructure, and support its commercial strategy. The company highlighted that she will play a key role in market validation as NuVision expands into community and private optical care in the UK, and continues to grow its international footprint.
Underhill joins NuVision with a commercial background across the UK and international markets, and since October 2025 has held the position of general manager for Teoxane in the UK and Ireland.
She previously served as general manager for Allergan Aesthetics in the Gulf States, where she led a $50M business to sustained growth and operational excellence.
NuVision said the change reflects “a deliberate shift in board composition” as the company transitions from a research and development focus into its next phase of commercialisation, which was central to the company’s most recent investment round.
Commenting on her appointment, Underhill said it was “a genuinely exciting period.”
“The science behind the product is exceptional and I’ve been struck by the quality of the team and the opportunities ahead. I am looking forward to bringing my commercial experience to the board and helping NuVision realise its full potential,” she added.
Chairman at NuVision, Roger Teasdale, said that Underhill’s appointment is a “significant moment” for the company. “Her depth of experience in building and scaling commercial operations makes her ideally placed to support us as we enter this new chapter,” he shared.
Teasdale added: “We are also deeply grateful to Mark Treherne for his contribution to NuVision, firstly as chair and latterly as non-executive director. His guidance during our R&D phase has been crucial in transitioning us to this point, and we wish him well.”
