Medtech company, Eyoto, based in Birmingham, has announced plans to debut its technology in the US as it heads to Vision Expo in Orlando, Florida (11–14 March).

The company originated as a spin-out from Aston University’s School of Optometry in 2013.

It’s flagship device, Aetheia, is an automated 4K digital slit lamp that uses artificial intelligence-enabled automation to allow non-clinically trained staff to record any exam procedure required for asynchronous clinical review, or offer full remote control to allow clinicians to deliver eye care from anywhere.

The technology is designed to provide consistent and high-quality assessments across multiple sites, helping providers to expand access to eye care, while enabling clinicians to focus on diagnosis and treatment, rather than image acquisition.

Eyoto will be exhibiting at Vision Expo alongside its US partner, DigitalOptometrics, on Stand 3021.

Tony Veverka, board advisor at Eyoto, said that that company has already made “huge headway” in the US market, and that showcasing Aetheia at the Vision Expo trade show represents another “significant milestone” in the company’s growth strategy.

He said: “Our goal is to expand access to high-quality eye examinations globally, supporting clinicians and patients alike with technology that delivers faster, smarter and more precise eye care.”

“ Whether it’s in high-volume retail clinics or hospitals, Aetheia is designed to adapt to any care setting to improve patient access, streamline workflow and enhance the overall patient experience,” he added.

This move follows the announcement in December 2025 that SpaMedica would roll out Aetheia:Auto across its entire hospital network.
