Heidelberg Engineering has expanded its anterior segment imaging portfolio with Heidelberg RCM.
The device enables non-invasive, high-resolution cellular-level microscopic imaging of the cornea for clinical practice and research, the company said.
The system supports visualisation of corneal structures from the epithelium to the endothelium.
A standard field of view of 400 x 400 µm is offered, with an optional 600 x 600 µm field of view for imaging larger areas in a single scan. Flexible acquisition mode allows for the capture of still images and sequences, and a live eye-monitoring camera assists with positioning of the corneal contact cap.
The device has been introduced in response to “sustained interest and growing demand” from clinicians and researchers following the discontinuation of HRT3 RCM in 2023, the company said.
Adding the Heidelberg RCM to its portfolio marks the company’s return to in vivo corneal confocal microscopy.
Heidelberg RCM has been developed through a strategic collaboration with Gaush Meditech.

Heidelberg RCM will be presented publicly for the first time at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons Congress 2026 in London.
Market availability will be announced separately and will vary according to local regulatory clearance and registration requirements.
