SightGlass Vision has made its myopia management spectacle lenses available for early access in the UK with a supporting introductory webinar.

The DOT lenses from SightGlass Vision use diffusion optics technology to help slow the progression of myopia through contrast management.

Clinical studies have demonstrated that DOT lenses can slow average myopia progression by up to 75% after 12 months of wear across diverse populations, the company highlighted.

SightGlass Vision also suggested that 93% of children said they love their glasses with DOT lenses.

The company, a joint venture of CooperCompanies and EssilorLuxottica, will host a webinar on 15 October during which eye care professionals in the UK can learn more about the lens design and clinical research.

The webinar, titled, Manage contrast to manage myopia: Introducing DOT lenses, is available to book online.

The company suggested prevalence of myopia in children in the UK has more than doubled over the past 50 years, with onset starting at a younger age, increasing the likelihood of higher myopia later in life.

Andrew Sedgwick, CEO of SightGlass Vision, commented: “Introducing DOT lenses in a new country is always an exciting moment for us because it means we can offer even more eye care professionals this globally-trusted tool to protect their young patients’ vision.”

More than one million children are already wearing DOT lenses, Sedgwick noted, adding that the company looks forward to working with the UK optical community to “expand access, intervene early, and help preserve children’s eye health” with the lens technology.

Eye care professionals in the UK who are interested in being early adopters of DOT lenses in practice are invited to contact Greg Cahill, sales project manager for the UK and Ireland, at SightGlass Vision.
