Stepper Eyewear visited Vision Care for Homeless People’s (VCHP) newly-refurbished clinic at the Crisis centre in East London last week.

The eyewear brand has backed the charity for six years, with support amounting to £55,000. Regional support from the brand has extended between Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, and London clinics.

Stepper Eyewear funding for VCHP helps support running costs as and where it is needed.

Simon O’Hara, business development manager for the south east at Stepper, visited the clinic where patients were attending for eye examinations and glasses dispenses.

He said: “So many parts of the optical community give to VCHP – for example, at this new clinic – and we like to be part of this support. Our industry works together very well and this is a great example of what we can achieve together.”

“The clinic is a welcoming environment and the quality of the eye care provided is something that we are very pleased to be associated with,” O’Hara added.

Prashant Shah, an optometrist practising in New Cavendish Street, in London, described volunteering at the VCHP clinic as a “humbling experience.”

Shah said: “I saw the volunteering opportunity promoted on social media and it is good to come to such a well set-up clinic. I like to do as much volunteering as I can, but a minimum of once a month is what VCHP is normally looking for from volunteers.”
