Specsavers launches #LoveDOWeek
The multiple will be celebrating the dispensing profession, sharing stories from colleagues and highlighting the opportunities the career can offer
14 September 2026
Specsavers has launched #LoveDOWeek in recognition of 100 years of the dispensing optics profession.
Beginning on 14 September, the week celebrates the contribution of dispensing professionals to patient care and practice success.
Kirsteen Newman, head of dispensing advancement at Specsavers, said: “Different people. Different routes. One profession. That’s the story we’re celebrating through #LoveDOWeek.”
Specsavers plans to share stories from colleagues at different stages of their careers throughout the week and celebrate #LoveDOWeek on social media.
Newman said: “What makes me most proud of this profession is its people. Every story that we’re sharing during #LoveDOWeek demonstrates their expertise, care and commitment to patient care.”
She continued: “As a dispensing optician myself, I’m privileged in my role at Specsavers to meet the very best of dispensing professionals across Specsavers practices. That ranges from optical assistants taking their first steps into the profession, Cert 3 and Cert 4 students, contact lens opticians, [to] dispensing opticians and partners. They are all changing lives.”
During the week, Specsavers also aims to highlight the routes and career opportunities available within dispensing.
Newman said: “As we recognise 100 years of dispensing, we’re also looking ahead to the people, talent and ambition that will shape the next 100 years.”
“One of the most encouraging things about our profession is the variety of opportunities it offers. There is no single route to success in dispensing and no ceiling on what you can achieve,” she emphasised.
