Coral Eyewear partners with Umbro
Through a new multi-year licensing partnership, Coral will launch a collection of Umbro glasses, crafted from a material made from recycled plastic waste
14 April 2025
Coral Eyewear has signed a multi-year licensing partnership with Umbro, which will see the eyewear brand launch a collection of Umbro glasses.
The collection, due to be released later this year, will include styles for children and adults and will feature the iconic ‘double diamond’ Umbro logo.
The frames will be made with Eastman Renew Acetate, a material made from recycled plastic waste.
The agreement marks Coral Eyewear’s second major licensing deal in the past year, following its collaboration with Studiocanal Kids and Family for the Paddington-themed children’s eyewear collection.
Richard Hurtley, commercial director at Coral Eyewear, said: “We were drawn to the Umbro brand not just because of their long-standing history of delivering high-quality sports products for teams around the world, but also due to its global partnerships with influential and culturally relevant streetwear brands, demonstrating that the brand has a strong appeal on and off the pitch.”
With this agreement, Umbro brand will enter the UK optical market for the first time in recent history as it seeks to expand into relevant categories following its 100-year anniversary in 2024.
Samuel Day, commercial director EMEA at Umbro, said: “Coral’s expertise, approach to sustainability, British origins, and sports essence made this a straightforward decision rooted in synergy.”
Day added that the brand looks forward to growing the category with Coral.
