Eyewear brand, Waterhaul, has been recognised at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards (CSA).

The brand received the award in the Circular Economy category, and also took home the overall Winner of Winners award.

The awards recognise local Cornish businesses for their contribution towards sustainability, environmental growth, circular economy and carbon neutrality.

Kieran Hill, head of B2B sales for Waterhaul, told OT: “We’re very proud to have won the Cornwall Sustainability Awards’ category for Circular Economy. For more than five years we’ve been pioneering truly circular product development, especially with our eyewear, and it’s great for us to have this recognition.”

“We also came away with the CSA’s Overall Winner Award, which is another wonderful achievement. We’re doing some amazing work here and everyone in the team deserves what we’ve achieved,” he added.

Waterhaul will be launching a new traceability system at 100% Optical 2025.

Hill commented: “We’re by no means finished. We have a lot left to do to achieve our goals for a positive impact, so watch this space.”

Earlier this year, Waterhaul launched a collection of sunglasses created from discarded fishing gear recovered during the rescue of an entangled humpback whale.

The collection formed part of Waterhaul’s Rescue to Recycle campaign, turning ghost gear into eyewear and calling for organisations and consumers to take an active role in protecting the ocean from marine plastic pollution.
