UK optometrists are invited to complete a survey that examines their decision-making process when prescribing spectacles to children between the ages of four and 15.
The questionnaire takes between 10 to 15 minutes to complete and is available online. There is a deadline of 12 June for completing the survey.
The questionnaire was developed as a research project for the MSc clinical optometry degree programme by optometrist Reena Joshi.
Ms Joshi explained: “An optometrist can be faced with many decisive factors, on a daily basis, that can influence whether or not to prescribe spectacles to school age children, and in the absence of any robust guidelines specifically for the school age group, a clinical judgement is required.”
She added that she wants to investigate what these considerations are and whether they have changed in line with the latest research.
