Duncan and Todd Group has welcomed a new CEO, Mat Norris.

The Scottish independent optical and hearing care group described the appointment as marking a new chapter in its growth.

Outgoing CEO, Frances Rus, will move into a role of non-executive director, continuing to serve on the board of directors and remaining a significant shareholder in Duncan and Todd.

Norris formerly held the role of CEO of Aqualisa, a designer and manufacturer of smart and digital showers.

He has also held leadership positions at Titon, and directorial positions at Jim Lawrence Lighting, Johnson Matthey, and Philips.

Earlier in the year, Norris collaborated with the Duncan and Todd Group during the relocation of its lens manufacturing arm, Caledonian Optical.

Norris commented: “I am thrilled to join the fantastic team at Duncan and Todd and very pleased to continue to have Frances’s expertise remain on the board. Frances’ deep insights, gained through devoted service to the industry, will help continue the success of the group.”

During Rus’ time in leading the group, Duncan and Todd has expanded across Scotland and invested in state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities.

Rus welcomed the new group CEO, sharing: “I extend my warmest congratulations to Mat in his new role. I know he will embrace the opportunities that lie ahead with the same passion and dedication that defines our organisation. His leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of our company.”

Duncan Gibson, chair of Duncan and Todd Group, commented: “We are delighted that Mat will be joining the Group as CEO.”

Gibson described Norris’ experience of leadership in consumer and manufacturing sectors and highlighted that he “made a great impression when supporting the Caledonian Optical move to its impressive new facility.”

Reflecting on Rus’ time steering the group, Gibson said: “After nearly four decades of dedicated service and her significant role in growing our business, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Frances for her outstanding contributions. We look forward to her ongoing positive impact in her new capacity as a non-executive director.”

Gibson concluded by sharing that the group has “ambitious plans” for the future.
