Haag-Streit UK has become the exclusive UK distributor for the VRmagic Eyesi Slit Lamp medical simulator.
The diagnostic training system for optometrists and ophthalmologists is integrated into the hardware of the Haag-Streit BQ 900 slit lamp model. Using the virtual reality technology, trainees can examine virtual patients with the biomicroscope, fundoscopy lens or gonioscopy lens.
VRmagic, which was established in 2001, joined the Haag-Streit Group in April this year.
Dean Johnson, managing director for Haag-Streit UK, shared: “VRmagic already had strong, well-established links with the group with the Eyesi Slit Lamp integrated in the original hardware of the Haag-Streit BQ 900 slit lamp.”
VRmagic has also launched the Eyesi Surgical medical simulator in the UK, to be distributed by Haag-Streit UK’s sister company, John Weiss.
Mr Johnson commented: “These are the first medical simulator products to be added to the company’s gold standard portfolio and we are thrilled to be expanding our offering for ophthalmologists in the key field of medical training.”
The Eyesi Surgical virtual reality simulator has been developed for cataract and vitreoretinal surgeons. Through the simulator’s OR microscope, trainees can see the virtual surgical field while operating with ‘life-like’ surgical instruments. The company suggests that the realistic simulation of interaction with tissue in real-time increases trainee’s surgical experience.
