Jai Kudo Lenses, part of the Millmead Group, has introduced Kudos, a new progressive lens solution for practices and patients.
The Kudos system uses virtual reality (VR) headset technology to track gaze dynamics with the aim of creating a progressive lens that is bespoke to the wearer.
The Kudo system also includes Kudos Coach, a VR simulation that provides patients with an experience of progressive lenses. Using the VR headset, patients can learn about the different solutions for presbyopia and opt for an unguided experience or a tutorial. In a simulated environment, the wearer can then learn how progressive lenses work.

Gigi Studios has released its Autumn/Winter 23/24 campaign, Le Club de Lecture, celebrating the role literature can take as a trigger for empathy and self-discovery.
The new designs in the Vanguard collection feature bold geometric shapes in Italian acetate. Stand-out frames include ‘Ludovica,’ an oversized mask with rounded contours, and the aviator ‘Bonnie.’
Meanwhile, ‘Vincenza,’ and ‘Matilde’ offer geometric shapes and bevel detailing.
In the men’s collection of optical designs, the ‘Meville’ model features a thick acetate rim with slight geometric shape, while ‘Hawking’ and ‘Maxwell’ are both made from titanium and acetate.
In sunglasses, ‘Bryant’ and ‘Magno’ both have thick acetate rims, and polarised CR39 lenses.

EssilorLuxottica and Meta Platorms have introduced new Ray-Ban smart glasses featuring live streaming capabilities. This enables wearers to broadcast experiences in real-time and hands-free, which the companies suggest could benefit content creators.
The new collection features higher-quality cameras and an improved audio and microphone system.
The Ray-Ban Meta collection features 21 styles, colours and lens variations.
Essilor has introduced ‘Headliner’ to the range, which it suggests is a “more inclusive and universal fitting design.”

Eyewear brand Kirk & Kirk has launched a fortnightly podcast, The Eyes Have It.
Through the podcast, co-founder Jason Kirk interviews figures from sport, music, film and fashion about their relationship with eyewear, as well as delving into a broad range of subjects.
The podcast is available on Apple and Spotify, with the first episode featuring the actor, Kirsten Vangsness, known for the role of ‘Garcia’ in Criminal Minds.
The podcast is produced by former BBC presenter, Nick Coffer, of Boutique Broadcast.

The compress mask features patented MediBeads technology to provide the uniform and extended heat required for the treatment.
Traditional compresses rely on silica gel beads, gel or grains, which can dry out or deliver uneven heat, the company suggested.
A honeycomb molecular structure also encourages complete absorption of water molecules and, when microwaved, releases moist heat in a controlled manner for eight to 12 minutes.
The patented two-pod adjustable design suits a variety of facial types and provide targeted heat to the meibomian glands.
The range also includes a compress specifically for contact lens wearers, the Eyeleve Compress.

Part of the Etnia Eyewear Culture Group, lool eyewear has launched an autumn winter collection inspired by contemporary art.
The expansion to the Tectonic Series is designed to demonstrate that “minimalism doesn’t have to be boring.”

Silhouette has introduced a new design family, Vivid Sky, featuring contemporary frames with digital and art-inspired visual effects.
Four full-rim frames make up the collection, in round, rectangular or square styles with snap-hinge technology.
Six colours are available, and wearers can opt for a matte or gloss finish.
Roland Keplinger, head of design, shared: “Contemporary shapes paired with vivid colours give a bold look. Versatile colouring techniques and colour blocking bring a fresh appeal and widen the range of full-rime options in the Silhouette world.”
