Happy eyewear with Albert I’mStein

CEO and founder, Diego Kim, introduced OT to his collection of eyewear with individuality at the centre

Albert I’mStein brought its unique brand of fun frames to 100% Optical (28 February – 2 March).

Diego Kim, CEO and founder of Albert I’mStein – who also spent his former career in the sciences – told OT that he gave the brand its name because he wanted to create something that “when people saw it, they would laugh.”

He explained the reaction he often receives to his eyewear: “I heard many times that our frame looks a bit quirky, very colourful, a bit crazy sometimes, but when they put them on their face, they say: ‘Oh it actually suits.’”

Kim showcased the ‘Spritz’ frame, which reimagines the use of magnets as not only a feature for clip-on functionality, but as a playful design element.

Magnetic features include rows of pearls that can be added over each side of the frame or above the bridge, and rows of spikes.

Kim explained that the magnetic features allow for wearers to express their individuality and change them out “depending on their vibe and clothing style.”

Presenting the Cocktail Series of eyewear, Kim explained: “I like bold acetate frames, but I didn’t want to introduce something everybody has.”

Kim drew inspiration from fluted crystal glass, playing with the texture for frames.
