EssilorLuxottica has revealed plans for a virtual education day open to all eye care professionals on Sunday 8 November.

Hosted on the company’s learning ecosystem, Leonardo, the programme includes four clinical sessions worth four interactive continuing professional development (CPD) points.

Attendees can join individual sessions or stay throughout the day of education.

Fiona Buckmaster, independent prescribing optometrist with dual specialties in artificial intelligence and public health, will lead an interactive session: Artificial intelligence: An optometrist’s guide to navigating the hype.

This will be followed by a session on Advances in light therapy for ocular surface disease, led by Dr Giuseppe Giannaccare, professor of ophthalmology at the University of Cagliari.

Elizabeth Yeowart-Montgomery, medical science liaison at EssilorLuxottica, will present a session on the clinical importance of axial length measurement in myopia management.

Finally, Dr Sam Strong, a senior lecturer at Aston University specialising in visual perception and visual optics, will deliver a presentation exploring how the mind shapes what people see, why perceived clarity and blur tolerance can vary between individuals, and what this means for discussing expectations of visual correction.

Linda Roxby, vision care education manager at EssilorLuxottica, said: “We’re bringing together fantastic speakers from across the industry to share their expertise on some of the most relevant topics for eye care professionals today.”

“It’s a brilliant opportunity to hear the latest thinking, engage with experts and gain interactive CPD points, all through one live event,” she added.

Partners of EssilorLuxottica will be able to register for the event through Leonardo. All other eye care professionals can register for the event online.
