The events will be held across the four nations, offering members the opportunity to hear about the AOP’s Five-Year Strategy and advocacy
16 June 2026
Booking is now open for the AOP’s newly-launched CPD-accredited roadshow events, which are designed to provide members with the opportunity to hear more about the organisation’s Five-Year strategy to deliver visionary change in optometry, eye care and health.
The roadshows, comprising of five events, will take place across the four nations from July to September.
The AOP has launched the in-person roadshow programme “at a time of significant change” for eye care in the UK, it said.
The association explained that the events will explore how optometry can continue to raise its profile and showcase the role that both optometrists and dispensing opticians can play in improving access to eye care services and easing pressures on the healthcare system.
Breaking-down the content that will be delivered through events, which offer two interactive CPD points, the sessions will cover an overview of AOP’s new Five-Year Strategy, including a focus on advocacy.
During the evening, members will also be able to share their on-the-ground experiences and insights with the AOP.
Speaking about the roadshows, AOP chief executive, Adam Sampson, said: “Optometry plays a crucial role in eye care and eye health, and the profession’s voice must be heard clearly and confidently.
“These events will help our members understand the direction of the healthcare system, how their expertise fits within wider health priorities, and how they can support the priorities that underpin consistent and accessible eye care for patients across the UK.”
The roadshows will take place in Edinburgh (14 July); Cardiff (15 July); Manchester (22 July); Birmingham (5 August), and Belfast (14 September).
