Cubitts collaborates with hearing eyewear developer Altina
Through the partnership, the first pre-production devices have been built at the Cubitts workshop

British eyewear brand, Cubitts, has collaborated with hearing eyewear developer, Altina, to build the first pre-production devices at the Cubitts workshop in London.
Altina is blending artificial intelligence (AI)-powered hearing technology into eyewear with the intention of helping wearers stay engaged in conversation, even in noisy environments.
The hearing company highlighted that hearing loss affects more than 1.5 billion people globally, but fewer than 20% adopt traditional hearing aids.
Altina’s AI-powered electronics are embedded in eyewear temples and built on the same components used in high-end hearing aids, the company suggests.
Beamforming microphones focus on the wearer’s conversation partner, while a dedicated AI chip separates speech from background noise in real time, delivering amplified sound through open-ear speakers.
Tal Bar-Or, founder and CEO of Altina, said: “People want to stay engaged in conversations, but existing solutions often get in the way, whether through design, comfort, or performance.”
“With Altina, we’re integrating advanced hearing technology into eyewear people already want to wear, so they can socialise with style and confidence,” Bar-Or added.
Bar-Or has previously led product development for Amazon’s Echo frames, and has more than a decade of experience building wearable and consumer devices.
The company is working alongside Cubitts and additional partners in hearing, audio, and AI to bring its idea to market.
