The Optical Suppliers Association (OSA) has joined The Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye – a healthcare consortium focused on the ethical adoption of oculomics.
OSA chairman, James Conway, highlighted that the collaboration comes at an important time for the sector.
“The potential for ocular data and artificial intelligence to support earlier identification of disease risk is significant, and this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to encouraging innovation that is ethical, practical and focused on better outcomes for patients,” he emphasised.
“Together, we can help ensure the optical sector plays a meaningful role in shaping the future of connected, preventive healthcare,” Conway added.
A statement from the OSA noted that affiliation reflects “a shared ambition to support innovation across the optical and healthcare ecosystems and to foster collaboration that benefits practitioners, patients and health systems alike.”
Founding member of The Alliance for Healthcare from the Eye, Dr David Rhew, welcomed OSA’s affiliation with the alliance.
“Bringing together expertise from across the optical supply chain, healthcare, research and policy in Europe is essential,” he said.
