Eyewear manufacturer, Mondottica Group, has achieved B Corporation certification.

B Lab grants the certification to for-profit organisations that have met and been measured against a set of standards defined by the B Corp award.

The certification follows an intensive 18-month process, the company said, in which Mondottica Group answered 258 questions relating to every aspect of its international business.

Ben Whitaker, managing director of Mondottica Group, said: “Achieving B Corp certification marks an important strategic milestone for Mondottica, reinforcing our commitment to embedding responsible and people-centred practices across our operations and partnerships.”

B Corp provides a framework for how the company will continue to grow, Whitaker said, including enhancing its social and environmental impact in a “purposeful and measurable way.”

According to the B Corp listing, Mondottica achieved an overall score of 83.2. A score of 80 qualifies for B Corp certification, while the median score for an ordinary business completing the assessment would be 50.9.

Whitaker said: “Looking ahead, we are committed to accelerating progress across the organisation, working closely with our brand partners and empowering our teams to build a business that is high-performing, purpose-driven, and resilient for the future.”

Mondottica became a member of the UN Global Compact, a voluntary corporate sustainability initiative, in 2021.

The company has also integrated Eastman Acetate Renew, a material which incorporates certified recycled content from eyewear production scrap, into several of its brand partner eyewear collections.
