Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care has appointed Steve Witts as its first NHS hearing development manager.

The creation of the new role aims to build on the eye care company’s NHS hearing services and partnerships in order to make hearing care more accessible and tailored.

Witts has more than 17 years of experience in audiology and healthcare service delivery, and joins Scrivens from domiciliary provider, OutsideClinic, where he held positions including audiology director.

During his tenure, Witts oversaw successful mergers and operational excellence, earning the Improving Quality in Physiological Services accreditation.

Mark Georgevic, director of Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care, said: “We are delighted to welcome Steve to the Scrivens family and have someone of his calibre join our team.”

“At Scrivens, we have always campaigned for wider collaboration in hearing care provision and look forward to continuing to work in partnership with the NHS to make hearing care even more accessible and tailored to patient needs,” Georgevic continued.

Central to Witts’ new role will be strengthening relationships with stakeholders, primarily integrated care boards, trusts, other NHS providers, and NHS England.

Commenting on his appointment, Witts said: “I am excited to join Scrivens and have this opportunity to work with Mark Georgevic and the rest of the hearing team to help build on the excellent reputation that Scrivens already has for NHS hearing care service provision.”

Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care has 168 High Street sites across England and Wales and provides a hearing service in more than 100 medical centres nationwide.
