Zoobug launches 2016 sunglasses collection
Comfort innovations for children are well received at Silmo
06 October 2015
Zoobug has launched its colourful new children’s sunglass collection which features six shapes for spring/summer 2016.
Each of the new styles is available in two sizes, 0–3 years and 4–9 years, and up to five colours. The new designs debuted at the Silmo show in Paris (25–28 September).
Designed in line with the latest fashion trends, the collection introduces lacework prints for children (pictured), miniature checks and diamonds, as well as nautical stripes.
In the new range, bold blocked colours contrast with bright white linings and coloured end tips in strong, neon tones, as well as pastel shades.
The sunglasses have been created for comfort throughout the day, in the pram and during active children’s activities. The smaller infant sunglasses are fitted with a surgical grade silicon saddle, developed by the company’s founder, Dr Julie Diem Le.
Giving support to the child’s nose, the new detail makes the sunglasses extra secure and ensures that eyelashes do not touch the lenses. Rounded sides also play a part in achieving a comfortable, snug fit over the ears.
Dr Diem Le told OT: "Zoobug launched the SS16 collection at Silmo, exhibiting for the first time with our new partner, Mondottica. The response to our collection was excellent.
“Our range of sizes, new secure curved temples and comfortable silicon saddle were extremely well received by new and existing customers.”
Dr Diem Le added: “Zoobug has created a one-of-a-kind label especially for children, with exceptional recognition in the children's fashion industry, as well as in optics. We are now looking forward to growing that opportunity and increasing visibility of the brand across the world.
“We also look forward to bringing that passion for innovative children's eyewear design to the newly created International Children's Division at Mondottica, which represents a portfolio of exceptional fashion and designer brands for kids."
The shapes for 2016 include the company’s statement, ‘Daisy,’ which is accompanied by the ‘Round,’ a circular design for girls which features a narrow bridge. The new collection also includes a flat-top style called ‘Super,’ a new acetate aviator and two fashion designs, ‘Chic’ and ‘Squarefarer.’
London-based Zoobug has been exhibiting at Silmo since 2008, when it won the Silmo d’Or for its ‘Daisy’ sunglasses design.
