Paula Stevens will step down from her leadership role in June before fully retiring in 2020.
The head of continuous education training (CET) at the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO), Paula Stevens, has announced her intention to retire.
Ms Stevens will reduce her hours and take on a new role with the association in June when she stands down from her current leadership role, before retiring in 2020.
In her new role, Ms Stevens will handle the distance learning aspect of ABDO CET, while a new head of department takes over.
ABDO general secretary, Anthony Garrett, said: “Paula Stevens has done a remarkable job for ABDO and more particularly its members. It would be impossible to accurately describe just how much we owe her for her dedication, innovation and determination. I am delighted that Paula will continue to work within the CET department to ensure a seamless handover over the next two years.”
Ms Stevens joined ABDO as head of CET in 1999 and set up the department in advance of CET becoming mandatory for dispensing opticians.
