World Sight Day campaign 2026 launched
The campaign comes at a “pivotal moment” as countries prepare for the Global Summit for Eye Health in November, IAPB said
01 July 2026
The IAPB has launched its 2026 campaign for World Sight Day (8 October), calling for accessible eye care, available sight tests, and affordable glasses.
The campaign will remind the public to prioritise their eye health, and will also urge governments around the world to release funding for accessible eye care.
The IAPB is encouraging the eye health sector to get involved in the global movement and support others to #LoveYourEyes through vision screenings at schools, workplaces and parliaments around the world.
Following the success of last year’s campaign, this year the 8th October awareness day will spotlight the stories and lived experiences of eye health, as well as community action.
The IAPB is encouraging participation in global activities including Every Story Counts – an opportunity to share personal experiences demonstrating why eye health matters to everyone, everywhere – with a goal of creating a “collective and powerful voice... Which becomes impossible to ignore.”
Supporting the #LoveYourEyes message, the IAPB hopes to reach five million pledges from people prioritising their eye health.
The campaign has secured more than 25 million pledges to #LoveYourEyes over five years and has generated more than one billion media impressions.
This year, World Sight Day marks a key milestone ahead of the first Global Summit for Eye Health, which will be held in Antigua and Barbuda on 2 November.
Simon Darvill, IAPB director of communications, campaigns and events, described the 2026 campaign as arriving “at a pivotal moment for the sector, as countries prepare their commitments for the Global Summit for Eye Health.”
“This year’s World Sight Day is not only about celebrating progress – it’s about building the momentum needed to deliver lasting change to end avoidable sight loss. I invite everyone to be part of the sector’s biggest day for collective action and engagement,” he said.
World Sight Day, led by IAPB, is championed by more than 250 member organisations and supported by Love Your Eyes global partners.
