Registration for the Macular Society’s annual conference has opened.

The free Hope for the Future conference will take place online on Saturday 12 September, from 9am to 4pm.

The conference will bring experts together to discuss the latest developments in macular disease research, including how cell replacement therapy has the potential to help treat age-related macular degeneration.

The event will also explore how artificial intelligence-powered smart glasses could support patients in their everyday lives.

Experts including Dr Michael Crossland, senior research fellow in the Lifelong Vision Lab at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, Queen’s University Belfast’s Professor Ruth Hogg, and Professor Lyndon Da Cruz, consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Moorfields Private, will speak at the conference.

Those attending will be able to put their questions directly to the speakers, whilst also learning about advances in research, treatments and support for macular conditions.

The importance of the Macular Society’s counselling service will also be highlighted during the conference.

The event is open to everyone affected by macular disease, as well as their family members, friends, and anyone interested in learning more.

Attendees can register online.
