Organisers behind National Eye Health Week have released a series of daily themes for the awareness campaign, taking place between 21 and 27 September.

A host of free resources to engage with National Eye Health Week will be available on the Vision Matters website from 31 August.

Themes for the week include Primary eye care services, with a focus on routine sight tests and enhanced primary eye care services, and Children’s eye health – highlighting what parents need to know about looking after their child’s eyes for the ‘best start in life.’

Dry eyes will be a focus this year, with organisers sharing: “As cases of dry eye continue to rise NEHW will explore its associations with screen use, menopause, ageing and contact lens wear.”

Live well to see well will highlight information about healthy habits to benefit eye health, while Friday will be themed ‘Self-care Fr-eye-day' focusing on every day eye care tips.

Rounding off the themes for the week will be Life through a lens, which will explore lens technologies and the latest eyewear trends, and Ageing Eyes, looking at the links to falls, dementia, age-related eye conditions and co-morbidities.

Practices are encouraged to support the campaign on social media by using the hashtags #EyeWeek or #VisionMatters and engaging with the official social media pages – listed on the website.
