Scope Eyecare opens IP bursary 2026
The bursary award scheme has returned for its fifth year
21 April 2026
Scope Eyecare’s independent prescriber bursary has returned for its fifth year.
The Scope Eyecare Optometry Independent Prescriber 2026 Bursary offers £3000 to a UK-registered optometrist planning to undertake an independent prescribing qualification.
The bursary aims to help remove financial barriers to postgraduate study.
Scope Eyecare has said it aims to support optometrists who wish to play a greater role in the management of ocular disease, who are motivated to develop their clinical expertise and positively impact patient outcomes.
The bursary is open to all UK optometrists who are planning to start an independent prescribing qualification.
To enter, applicants are required to write a case study outlining a patient scenario, where having an IP qualification would have improved the patient’s experience and care.
Applicants are also asked to write a short paragraph explaining why they would like to study independent prescribing.
Entries must be submitted before the closing date of 31 May.
Details on how to enter the Scope Eyecare Optometry Independent Bursary 2026 can be found online.
