The Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC) has provided an update on General Ophthalmic Services (GOS) fees for 2025–2026, as well as CPD and pre-reg grants.

In a statement, the OFNC confirmed that after it expressed “significant concerns” about the data that was used by NHS England to calculate fees for 2025–2026, further analysis was undertaken.

The statement added that NHS England has recently confirmed that is has completed its analysis and written to the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) with its recommendations.

“Once we receive a response from DHSC we will update the sector with more detail,” the OFNC highlighted.

GOS fees, CPD grants and pre-reg grants must all be confirmed as part of a single process because they are all part of the same regulations.

“It has been agreed that any increase in fees will be backdated to April 2025,” the OFNC confirmed.

The OFNC added that the CPD claims window for 2024–2025 would be opened shortly after confirmation of the fees for for 2025–2026.

“We can assure you CPD grants will be paid,” the OFNC stated.
