The sport eyewear brand, evil eye, has switched to a new biocircular material across all of its products.

As of 1 August, the brand is using ECO PPX, a robust and flexible polymer which has been produced from biocircular raw materials including organic waste from agriculture and forestry, such as tree bark and straw.

The raw material is turned into a polymer without the use of petroleum, reducing the carbon footprint of evil eye frames compared to conventional plastics.

The company described the change as a “conscious decision” in its brand strategy, sharing: “By taking this step, the sport eyewear specialist from Austria is implementing specific measures to both improve product performance and increase awareness in the use of resources.”

The brand outlined its desire to demonstrate that “responsibility and high performance are by no means contradictory.”

There will also be changes in the packaging of the eyewear, with new folding boxes made of at least 70% recycled material and FSC-certified fibres. A new microfibre pouch has been made of 95% recycled PET.

Evil eye frames are made in Linz, Austria, using electricity from renewable sources.

In-company transport routes and processes help to make efficient use of resources, the business shared, minimising environmental impact.
