Ophthalmology provider Newmedica has officially opened a new eye clinic and surgical centre in West Yorkshire, providing eye care for NHS and private patients

The new multimillion-pound facility, which opened in Cleckheaton, Bradford earlier this month, is offering services including cataract surgery, oculoplastics, and YAG laser treatment.

Owned and led by consultant ophthalmologists Aidan Benson, Ahmed Bardan, Mohammed Mohyudin, Nabil El-Hindy and Francesco Pillitteri, alongside operations director Stuart Cannonier, the clinic is run by 18 staff, with plans for further recruitment “as the business grows and demand increases.”

Speaking about the opening, Cannonier said: “We’re delighted to be helping the Bradford communities and surrounding areas with their eye care needs. Eye health is incredibly important to us all and, as with any medical condition, the more quickly something is treated, the better the outcome is likely to be.”

Newmedica said that the new facility is “focused on supporting the NHS to help drive down waiting times so that more patients receive eye care services as quickly as possible.”

Consultant and clinical lead for the clinic, El-Hindy, highlighted: “In addition to the patients we see, we are enjoying working with local optometrists and other partners, ensuring that our joined-up working across the system provides patients with the treatment they need and deserve in a timely manner.”
