Hoya Vision Care has introduced a new online myopia training course designed for optical assistants and practice support staff.

The Miyosmart In Practice course will cover the basics of myopia, including how it is caused and why it tends to progress, as well as how myopia management works to slow eye growth.

The programme also explores effective and confident communication with patients and parents.

The online course is made up of three 30-minute sessions and does not assume prior knowledge.

Hoya shared that the purpose of the new programme is to ensure that the whole practice team has a good understanding of myopia and is able to engage confidently with patients and parents.

The company shared: “The most successful myopia management practices are those that communicate well at every stage of the patient journey, not only in the consulting room.”

“The full practice team is vital to supporting the discussion and recommendation of myopia management interventions,” Hoya highlighted in a statement.

The first live webinar will be held on 16 October and a recorded version will be made available shortly after.

More information on the programme, and registration details for Miyosmart In Practice, can be found on the Hoya website
