Nikon Lenswear UK and its partners in independent optometry practices have raised more than £19,000 for the charity Sightsavers.

The summer campaign ran between 1 June and 31 August 2024, with the company making a donation on behalf of participating practices for every purchase of a pair of Nikon spectacle lenses with a SeeCoat coating.

The donation will support Sightsavers’ work with governments and partners across Africa and Asia to tackle avoidable vision impairment, such as cataract and refractive error.

Donations were made on behalf of independent practices who participated in a nationwide patient communication campaign.

Morna Lane, head of trusts and corporate partnerships at Sightsavers, commented: “Funding from Nikon Lenswear UK’s summer campaign will help support our work to save and protect sight across Africa and Asia.”

“The commitment to Sightsavers is particularly timely in drawing attention to the global inequity of eye health as we build up to World Sight Day on 10 October,” Lane continued, adding: “Good eye health can help people to learn, earn, and prosper, so continued global collaboration and funding like this is essential.”

The campaign marks the fifth year that Nikon Lenswear has partnered with a charity.
