Optegra announced as Wheelchair Football Association sponsor for 2024–2025
The independent hospital group will sponsor the charity’s National League for the 2024–2025 season
13 September 2024
Optegra has been named as the Wheelchair Football Association’s (WFA) National League sponsor for the coming season.
The independent eye hospital group will be supporting both the Premiership and Championship divisions of the WFA for 2024–2025.
The divisions will be named the 2024/25 Optegra Premiership and the 2024/25 Optegra Championship respectively.
The WFA is the national governing body for Powerchair Football in England, and is a registered charity.
The association is working to develop powerchair football in England, offering people with physical impairments the opportunity to play football and providing a competitive platform for those with physical disabilities.
The 2024/25 season of the WFA National League will be officially referred to as the Optegra National League.
Optegra’s sponsorship of the WFA furthers its commitment to extending its community support and outreach, the hospital group said.

It is hoped that the partnership will help to increase awareness of the benefits of adaptive sports, whilst also supporting the inclusion of those with disabilities in competitive activities.
More players will be offered the chance to develop their skills and compete at the highest level as the National League grows, the WFA believes.
Mat Pickering, managing director of Optegra Eye Health Care, said: “Having met the team at the WFA, it is clear that we share the same values and commitment to improving the lives of as many people as possible, in as many ways as possible.”
He noted the recent opening of an Optegra cataract clinic in Nottingham, where the WFA is based.
“I am constantly aware of the vital role our hospitals and clinics play in their local communities, and we take that responsibility very seriously,” Pickering said.
Dean Williams, chairperson of the WFA, offered his “sincere thanks to Optegra for their wonderful commitment and support.”
The partnership “will have a significant impact on our aspirations to grow and, in turn, on those we serve,” Williams said.
He added: “This is truly a meeting of shared values, and we are so proud to have Optegra with us.”
