A free webinar is being held for all individuals who might have the opportunity to speak to the public about cancer.

The interactive two-hour training, led by Talk Cancer, is taking place on Thursday 6 October from 10am-12pm.

It aims to assist individuals, including healthcare professionals who might regularly find themselves discussing lifestyle and wider health issues with their patients, to build confidence and skills in this area.

The webinar is suitable for anyone who wants to “have supportive conversations with others about reducing their risk of cancer, the importance of spotting cancer early and making healthy changes,” Talk Cancer said.

The workshop will help attendees to better understand the key messages around cancer awareness, give advice on talking to people about reducing the risk of getting cancer, and provide assistance in enabling effective and supportive conversations about cancer and health for the future.

It is hoped that this will enable those within primary care, for example optometrists and pharmacists, to encourage patients to take positive actions for their health, to use local services, and to seek out advice for any concerns they might have.

Talk Cancer is a cancer awareness training programme, and is part of Cancer Research UK.

More information can be found on the website. Those who want to sign up for the webinar can do so here. Registrations will close on 4 October.
