Optical Express makes sight saving donation

Staff at Optical Express have jointly donated 123 hours of their salary to Sightsavers.

The initiative has raised £3656 for the charity, which supports visually impaired children and adults in developing countries.

Employees at the multiple pledged to donate one hour of their pay from their November or December salary, through which 123 hours were donated. Optical Express then matched the figure raised.

Statistics show that 39 million people are blind globally, yet 75% of blindness can be cured or prevented. Sightsavers aims to support this group of people, working to prevent and treat eye conditions such as cataracts, refractive error and neglected tropical diseases.

CEO of Optical Express, David Moulsdale, said: “Our staff are just as passionate as us when it comes to charity activity and are always willing to go the extra mile to help us raise money. Donating 123 hours is a great achievement and we are delighted to donate the sum of £3656 to Sightsavers, as part of our ongoing relationship with the charity.”
