Prince William tries out artificial vision technology on visit to Israel

Prince William had the opportunity to try out artificial vision technology designed to assist blind and partially sighted people on a recent trip to Israel.

During a demonstration of the OrCam MyEye device, the company’s co-founder, Ziv Aviram, used the device’s facial recognition technology to identify both Prince William and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Prince William used a pointing gesture to activate real-time text reading while wearing glasses with the artificial intelligence device attached.

Prince William described the device as “absolutely incredible.”

“That will help many people I am sure. What brilliant tech,” he observed.

As well as the ability to read text and recognise faces, the MyEye device can identify consumer products, colours and bank notes.

The technology is available in 18 languages and 25 countries including the UK.
