Eyespace launches new frames for women that are created to complement key catwalk trends for spring/summer 2017

Eyespace has introduced a selection of women’s ophthalmic frames to its Cocoa Mint collection, which feature crystal-clad sides.

The company highlights that the move is in response to the spring/summer 2017 fashion catwalks “developing a penchant for shimmer, glitter and all things iridescent.”

The new releases to the Cocoa Mint range, ‘CM9036’ and ‘CM9037’ feature Swarovski crystal fabric panels on the sides and a double-barred metal end piece.

Composed of a multi-layered acetate material, ‘CM9036’ has a cat’s-eye shape created to be subtle and “highly wearable.” Offered in size 52-15-140 and in rich chocolate, ‘C1,’ or blue and teal tones ‘C2,’ the ophthalmic frame is expected to fast become popular as it epitomises the relaxed glamour style that Cocoa Mint is renowned for, according to Eyespace.

Frame ‘CM9037’ aims to prove that glitter is a perennial fashion favourite by teaming premium high-gloss classic black ‘C1,’ and subtly shimmering maroon ‘C2’ acetates with Swarovski-clad side trims. A double-barred metal end piece surrounds the panel, crafted of tiny sparkling crystals in complementary tones.

With a popular 53-eye size and a softened rectangular eye shape, the frame is expected by the company to deliver mass appeal within the practice environment.

Explaining the new designs, Eyespace head of product development, Emily Shepherd, told OT: “The new season is buzzing with glistening shades and fabrics that shimmer and spark. With London Fashion Week being the first to put grown-up glitter on the map, we have taken the trend and transitioned it thoughtfully into our eyewear, creating a selection of exquisite designer-infused pieces with trims that will look phenomenal in springtime sunshine.”

Emphasising the challenges, Ms Shepherd explained: “The application of trends is a fine balancing act, calling for our designers to be fashion-forward, while keeping frames totally wearable, not to mention ensuring the quality remains outstanding, which they have achieved in every sense.”

Supporting an alternative key trend for spring/summer of tactile fabric choices, new style ‘CM9039’ has leather detailing.

Eyespace’s marketing manager, Nicky Clement, explained: “With designers across the world bringing focus to leather for its playful design properties, much like the glitter-glam trend, it was delivered as both decoration and for top-to-toe dressing – girly ruffles as soft as silk, punkish biker jackets, cowgirl tassels and layered-up belt corsets all coordinated perfectly across the season’s clothing collections to ensure leather will be the perfect complement to next summer’s wardrobe.”

The side trim of new style ‘CM9039’ is inspired by the braiding and gold-toned hardware of luxury handbags. Contrasting textures are a key feature of the new design, with the high-gloss acetate eye front, cylindrical temple – “a technical feat” – and tips all juxtaposing against a braided leather and gold-barrelled trim.

The eye shape has been created to be widely flattering and the new style is offered in classic shades of black ‘C1,’ while ‘C2’ is a combination of tortoiseshell with brown braided leather.
