The Optometric Fees Negotiating Committee (OFNC) has published a statement on continuing professional development (CPD) grants.

The national negotiating body for eye care in England confirmed the payments form part of negotiations with Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) about General Ophthalmic Services fees and grants.

Usually, the annual CPD claim window opens in June or July. However, this has been delayed as a ministerial decision has not yet been reached on GOS arrangements for 2025–2026.

OFNC chair, Dr Peter Hampson, shared: “Negotiations are taking longer this year for a number of reasons, but both DHSC and OFNC recognise the importance of CPD support for the sector and will provide an update as soon as negotiations have concluded.”
